Why You Should Become an ABA Therapist

If you love working with children and helping them grow, becoming an ABA therapist could be a perfect fit for you! You may not be familiar with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), but it’s an incredibly rewarding field where you can make a real impact on kids’ lives, especially those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

What is ABA Therapy?

ABA is a type of therapy that helps children build meaningful developmental skills through positive reinforcement. ABA can address a wide range of behaviors. It is especially important for children with autism. In fact, it’s recognized as a medically necessary treatment for them. By becoming an ABA therapist, you’ll play a key role in helping these kids unlock their potential and thrive.

A Day in the Life of an ABA Therapist

As an ABA therapist, you’ll work one-on-one with different children throughout the day. You’ll help them learn and develop important life skills. You might spend a few hours with one child in the morning, work with another in the early afternoon, and then finish your day with a third child.

You won’t be alone in this journey. You’ll work alongside other therapists and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), who will guide and support you. Together, you’ll create fun, effective strategies to help each child overcome challenges and learn new skills. There will be hard days—every child has ups and downs—but your team will always be there to support you. And no matter the challenges, you’ll be making a real difference.

One of the most rewarding moments is seeing a child master a new skill. Watching their parents’ faces light up when they see the progress their child has made thanks to your help is priceless.
